EVERYDAY MAKE UP STAPLES/ ROUTINE

To be honest, I don't wear a lot of make up. I just can't stand the feeling of a lot of products on my face, plus I believe make up should really be used to enhance your features rather than hide them. Obviously there are those times when you do want to hide certain elements of your skin i.e dark circles under your eyes, redness or scars ( I suffer from slight redness on my cheeks) but aside from that I don't like to over do it.

However, I have some firm favourites in my makeup routine that i'm not sure I could live without! I tend to go for a very natural look - a bit of mineral powder under my eyes, tops of my cheeks and nose is as far as i'll go in terms of evening out my skin tone, the rest of my skin I will leave bare as thanks to my parents amazing genes i've been blessed with skin that behaves itself most of the time.

After I finish my morning cleanse and moisture routine (there will be a post on that soon) I like to prep my skin with Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base Primer (02 Champagne). I like this because it also doubles up as a moisturiser! I use this mainly on the cheek bones, bridge of my nose and the outer areas of my face, I tend to avoid using products like this around my t-zone as I don't need anymore radiance there. It's a great highlighter and also keeps make up in place pretty well. It's quite pricey at £26 but the tube does last a long time.

The mineral powder i'm currently using is one by Antipodes in 'Light Yellow'. I absolutely love this as it gives very good coverage, hiding those pesky shadows under my eyes and the redness on my cheeks. It also has a nice dewy finish that doesn't leave me looking or feeling greasy within a few hours (combination skin means I become particularly oily around my t-zone very quickly).

Next i'll contour with my favourite bronzer which is the Bare Minerals Ready Bronzer in The High Dive. This is one of their most popular bronzers as it's perfect for creating that 'just come back from holiday' tanned look. Less is more with this bronzer as it's very pigmented and if you over do it, it can come out slightly on the orange side. I absolutely love this bronzer, it compliments my olive skin tone perfectly and lasts all day - i've had tonnes of compliments from people when wearing this and most of them have actually asked me if i'd been away anywhere... winning!
I haven't bothered with blush in the last 5 months, so I won't add it into this post.

After i've finished contouring, i'll use my Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette to highlight the tops of my cheek bones.

Up until recently, I didn't wear mascara for about 4 months...I couldn't be bothered with the upkeep. As mentioned before my tzone (and eyelids) are very oily and I would find that mascara would quickly smudge under my eyes - the panda look does not suit me. So I gave up and started tinting my eyelashes. Then I came across the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Waterproof mascara - let me just say, this mascara is a god send! No smudging, stays all day, makes my eyelashes look amazing... and is an absolute pain to take off at the end of the day... exactly what I look for in a mascara!

If I can be bothered i'll fill in my eyebrows using the HD eyebrow palette in Foxy (this version is no longer available, they now come in larger palettes), or I actually quite like to use the Topshop Freckle Pencil as the colour is just right. I'll then finish off with a nude or red lip or sometimes just a bit of my favourite Korres lip balm in Jasmine (I actually own 6 of these...oops).

So that's it, this routine in the morning usually takes about 5-7 minutes which works perfectly for me as it means more time in bed. This is the finished look - you can jazz it up with some eyeliner or bright lipstick, but if you want a lazy make up day this is perfect.
